Mary Mayhew to Chair Miami Herbert Business School Advisory Board

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Florida Hospital Association President and CEO Mary Mayhew has been appointed Chair of the Health Management and Policy Advisory Board for the University of Miami Herbert Business School.

The Miami Herbert Business School designed the Health Management and Policy major area of specialization for business school students seeking to pursue careers in health management and policy in any variety of health care settings. The curriculum provides students with an understanding of the management, economic and financial structure, and legal, ethical, and governmental policy aspects of the health care industry.

“Thriving health systems require top-notch leaders in all areas, not just clinical,” said Mary C. Mayhew, incoming chairwoman and President and CEO of the Florida Hospital Association. “I am thrilled to lead the Health Management and Policy Advisory Board and work alongside local, national, and global health care leaders in training the health care leaders of tomorrow

The Advisory Board serves as a forum for professionals interested in health management education. Advisory Board members provide advice, guidance, and support to ensure the program’s curriculum is cutting edge and prepares graduates to assume leadership roles in the health care industry. In her role as Chair, Mayhew will work to increase awareness of the school’s education programs and support various initiatives, including events and programs beneficial to the health care community.

As President and CEO of the Florida Hospital Association, Mayhew supports the missions of more than 200 hospitals and health systems throughout Florida. Her role with FHA provides a unique perspective of the current health care workforce shortage in Florida. Prior to joining the Florida Hospital Association, Mayhew previously served as Secretary of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administratrion, Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services in the federal Department of Health and Human Services, and Commissioner of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
